![]() So Zenimax interference in the industry standards of software engineering is wholly toxic. ![]() Zenimax is run by a true scumbag- who should have gone to prison but had enough political clout to instead only be *banned* from ever working again in his former area of business (this is true- google it). Not to rip-off a previous client- but then that client will tend to own the *specific* form of their IP (which should never be the *general* form of the codebase). Third party devs need to be free to reuse their code. My guess is that WB could take the same legal action over Rage 2 that Beth took over Westworld the Game.Īnd this is why Beth's action was so despicable in the first place. My guess is that WB has the *same* claim over Avalanche's engine code in future projects that Bethesda claimed over the engine code used in Fallout Shelter. My guess it that Avalanche signed the same evil idiotic contract with WB that the dev of Fallout Shelter signed with Bethesda. This despite the fact that iD's Carmack (once an employee of Beth) has stated in public over and over again how essential it is for engine coders to be able to reuse their own code. Many people (all of whom are not indy coders) praised Bethesda for suing over Westworld. And it is a fact that Zenimax just ripped off the D+D IP. But when it comes down to it, there are a boatload of first-person shooters that provide an equal amount of action. Yet it is a fact that a ton of Rage 2 code will replicate Mad Max code. The core mechanics do manage to milk some joy out of me, and blowing the head off some irradiated ghoul will always elicit a smile on my face. But they did.īeth sued a small dev for daring to reuse their own code libraries - a repugnant and truly evil thing to do. It was an illegally re-written 2016 D+D scenario that Zenimax hoped know one would spot. They were 'giving' away a tabletop RPG scenario that was supposedly created in the world of Elder Scrolls. Today Bethesda and Zenimax were caught thieving IP from D+D. So, Beth, how much Mad Max code is in Rage 2? And how much Mad Max 2 code? After all before cancelling Mad Max 2, WB was presumably paying for that work too. But you sued them- using the power of the legal machine that is Zenimax. Which is essential industryu practice for any third party dev with their own engine and engine tools. You see Bethesda, I recall you suing WB and the third party devs of Fallout Shelter for *daring* to reuse *their* engine code in their Westworld game. Hey Bethesda, how much of WB's Mad Max code is in your Rage 2? I only ask because third party Avalanche coded both with essentially the same engine- and Rage 2 even began life as the sequel to Mad Max, before WB cancelled it.
